Tonhalle Düsseldorf
Junge Tonhalle

Tonhalle Düsseldorf3-2-1 IGNITION! Behind this »igniting« name stands a series of concerts which was developed by Tonhalle Düsseldorf for young audiences between 13 and 30 years old. The musicians of the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra play modern themes and have them staged via live cameras. Two further series of concerts complement the offer for young people: BIG BANG brings young, enthusiastic classical musicians on stage and TONFREQUENZ provides a platform for electronic music in a concert hall atmosphere. For two years now, Tonhalle has been setting nationwide standards with its own youth orchestra. The target of this young people’s brand is to create a new youth culture with fluid transitions. Meanwhile, the individual projects of this innovative package have established themselves as their own brand under the name of »JUNGE TONHALLE«. Attending a classical concert is to become part of young people’s leisure time activities and to be just as natural as going to a party. That this works under one roof makes JUNGE TONHALLE so particularly attractive.

Tonhalle Düsseldorf was built in 1926 and originally served as a planetarium. In the 1970s, it was rebuilt and turned into a concert hall. It was not until five years ago that the hall was thoroughly modernised. Thanks to its sophisticated sound-deflection system, even the greatest acoustic demands can be met. In the main hall providing 1,854 seats and the chamber music hall with 300 seats, about 200 concerts take place every year, attended by an audience of 220,000.
