Thalia Theater
Thalia Treffpunkt

Thalia TheaterWith regard to the Thalia Treffpunkt (meeting point), the name stands for the programme – and has done so since the 1986 / 87 season: According to the motto »Theater down to the point«, young people get together and exchange ideas, without any casting. There is only one condition: the unrestricted curiosity for new things. No matter whether on stage or behind the scenes: experiencing theatre is the most important thing. Newcomers are always welcome and entry is made easy for them. Every month new drama groups and workshops are offered. Most projects present their results at the »Thalia in der Gaußstraße« at the end of the season.

The Thalia Theater, founded in 1843, belongs to the three national theaters in Hamburg. In 2007, the drama and experimental plays venue was elected Theatre of the Year again. The repertoire of the main theatre, which seats 1,000 people, includes around 20 productions. The »Thalia in der Gaußstraße« is a smaller theatre operated by the Thalia with two stages (90 and about 200 seats). It is located in the borough of Altona and is the creativity location for unusual and young people’s art initiatives.
